In anthropology we learned that it has to do with reproductive efficiency: several wives from one man can make several children, while one woman with many husbands can’t. Generally, cultures with polyandry have lower resources (e.g. some in Tibet).

I refuse to play Mapcrunch
I wasted so many valuable hours in the past playing around with Google maps, just walking around aimlessly all over the world and sight-seeing (cheaper than visiting places.)
